Divine wine wednesdays at the Bistro

Summer Whites!

My Green Bay Packer sommelier advised me to restart our Wine Club meetings and our first Divine Wine Wednesday was held at the Bistro (15250 S. Tamiami trail, Ft Myers 33908) on Wed September 26th.
Our Reception wine was a Proseco. We paired it with Fresh Golden Pineapple, Fresh Figs, and sweet Cantaloupe.
I also made a smoked Salmon spread on crostini with Capers, Chives and Dill and it was delicious!
After the usual tasting information and guidelines, we tasted 5 different Summer Whites:
Verdicchio
Chenin Blanc/Viognier
Sauvignon Blanc
Gewurtztraminer
Pinot Gris

The Proseco was a big hit!

The Verdicchio was not very popular, nor was the Gewurtztraminer. Very close in their final ratings, the Chenin Blanc-Viognier blend from Pine Ridge, the Erath Pinot Gris and the Kenwood Sauvgnon Blanc were the most appreciated wines. After the tasting, we presented our guests with Lemon-infused Sea Scallops and Jumbo Shrimp with Beurre Blanc over Whole Wheat Angel Hair. We also served a Caprese Salad with our Balsamic dressing and fresh basil. I could not resist some fabulous looking apples at the store and I made some french apple tarts that were a delight! Log on to our website and request our newsletter to be invited to the next tasting! http://www.mybluewindows.com/
